Registering a company in Malaysia as a foreigner
The questions we hear most from overseas founders. For the full walkthrough, read our complete foreigner's guide.
- Can a foreigner register a company in Malaysia?
- Yes. Foreigners can incorporate a Sdn Bhd through SSM, and for most business activities 100% foreign ownership is allowed. We handle the whole process on fixed fees, remotely.
- How much does it cost to register a Sdn Bhd?
- Our fixed fee is RM 4,500 one-time to incorporate — including the SSM registration fee, stamping and documents — plus a named company secretary from RM 200/month with the registered office complimentary.
- Do I need a resident director as a foreigner?
- Yes — under s.196(4) of the Companies Act 2016 a company needs at least one director ordinarily resident in Malaysia. We provide resident director support from RM 2,000/director/month under a written agreement with proper safeguards.
- Can I register without being in Malaysia?
- Yes. Documents are prepared for remote e-signing, so you can incorporate and run a Malaysian company from overseas — we already act for foreign shareholders across Australia, Singapore and beyond.
